Stavros Charalambous, MD
Dr. Stavros Charalambous is a recently certified Radiologist who is currently working in the Interventional Radiology Unit of the University Hospital of Heraklion. He received his MD from Semmelweis University and is a PhD candidate in the Medical School of the University of Crete in the field of Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology. His research interests focus on diagnostic imaging and image-guided interventions of vascular and oncological disorders.

Michail Klontzas, MD, PhD
Dr Klontzas is a first year radiology resident at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He studied medicine at the University of Crete (summa cumme laude – 85.6%), holds a PhD from Imperial College London (UK) and has worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Emory University School of Medicine and Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, GA, USA). Dr Klontzas is a collaborating researcher of the Institute of Computer Science – FORTH and currently serves as a member of the Trainee Editorial Board of RadioGraphics and representative of the European Society of Medical Imaging Informatics (EuSoMII) at the Radiology Trainee Forum of the European Society of Radiology (ESR). Emmanouil Koltsakis, MD, MSc
Dr Koltsakis is a 1st year radiology resident who graduated from the University of Crete. In 2020 he completed succesfully an MSc in “Surgical Sciences” and received a license to practice in Sweden. Until now he has completed a clinical rotation in General Surgery and has been trained in radiography/fluoroscopy and ultrasound. Even though Interventional Radiology has caught his attention, he is also fascinated by diagnostic imaging. LinkedIn
Alexandros Kotziamanis, MD
Dr Kotziamanis serves as the chief resident of our department. He studied medicine at Masaryk University, Brno Czech Republic and graduated in 2015. For the following three years among other things (shadowing doctors, pre-registration program in Cyprus etc.) he passed USMLE (ECFMG certified) and went to New York and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. Since 2018 he is an active member of the radiology residency program of the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Konstantina Konstantinou, MD
Dr Konstantinou was born and grew up in Cyprus. She studied medicine at the University of Crete (2012-2018) and trained for one year in internal medicine (2019-2020). Since 2020 she is a radiology resident at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Eliza Kompoliti, MD
Dr Kompoliti was born in Corfu in 1992 and graduated from secondary school in 2010. She has obtained her medical degree in 2017 from the University of Ioannina. Following graduation she spent the first two years of training as a radiology resident at the General Hospital of Athens G. Gennimatas. Dr Kompoliti’s training will be completed in UHH where she has started working as a radiology resident in October 2020.
Kypros Louka, MD
Dr Louka is a graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Crete. He is currently in the 3rd year of Radiology residency.
Stella Markatzinou, MD
Dr Markatzinou is a graduate of the University of Crete School of Medicine (class 2018). After completing one year of internal medicine training she is now a 1st year radiology resident at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Nikolas Matthaiou, MD
Dr Matthaiou is a 5th year radiology resident. He is a graduate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. After completing a year of general practice at a rural setting, he embarked on his radiology training at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Crete School of Medicine with a research interest on Interventional Radiology, with special focus in Peripheral Arterial Disease. Angeliki-Alkistis Peristeri, MD
Dr Peristeri is a graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Crete, Greece. She has completed one year of general medicine practice in Primary Health Care facilities in the island of Lesvos, Greece. Dr Peristeri is currently in the second year of training in Diagnostic Radiology at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Mikaella Prodromou, MD
Dr Prodromou was born in Cyprus in 1993 and graduated from Democritus University of Thrace in 2018. She worked in the General Hospital of Athens G. Gennimatas for the first two years of her radiology residency. In November 2020 Dr Prodromou joined the University Hospital of Heraklion for the completion of her training.
Ioannis Stathis, MD
Dr Stathis is a 3rd year radiology resident. He graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and after completing his rural doctor services he started his training in radiology at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He is interested in diagnostic and especially musculoskeletal imaging as well as CT- and US-guided interventional procedures.
Katerina Strehle, MD
Dr Katerina Strehle studied medicine at the Democritus University of Alexandroupoli (Greece). After graduation she moved to Germany where she worked for 2 years as a resident in Pediatrics in Städtisches Klinikum Görlitz and Evangelisches Waldkrankenhaus in Spandau, Berlin. After that she changed to Radiology and worked for one year as radiology resident in Klinikum Frankfurt Oder, when she moved to Crete to continue her residency in Radiology at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Dimitra Stylianaki, MD
Dr Stylianaki graduated from the Medical University of Plovdiv with a “Master Medical Doctor” degree in 2019. In 2020 she started her radiology training as a resident of the University Hospital of Heraklion.
